Osprey Atmos AG 65 is the most recommended 65L backpack for multi-day trips. We researched the Anti-Gravity suspension under 40-lb loads and compared it to the Gregory Baltoro 65.
Who it's for
Buy this if: Backpackers doing 3+ day trips who carry 25-45 lbs and prioritize comfort over weight savings.
Skip this if: Ultralight backpackers — at 4 lbs 11 oz, this is a traditional load-carrier, not an ultralight pack.
In practice
Anti-Gravity Suspension
The AG suspension system uses a tensioned mesh trampoline held 2 inches from the back panel. Your torso contacts the mesh, not the pack body. Air flows continuously between your back and the pack, reducing the sweat accumulation that makes long carry days miserable.
Torso Fit
Osprey sizes packs by torso length (not height). Measure from C7 vertebra to iliac crest. Small: <18", Medium: 18-20", Large: 20"+. Proper fit puts the hipbelt over the iliac crest with 75% of the load on your hips. Incorrect torso sizing is the most common cause of shoulder pain in loaded packing.
