Why Paper Still Matters
GPS units fail at -20°F, at low battery, in narrow canyons, and after drops into water. A map fails never. Carrying both is the standard practice — navigate primarily by GPS, always know where you are on the paper map. The single skill that GPS navigation has eliminated: knowing your current position without looking at a screen.
