Helinox Chair One uses DAC 7001 aluminum pole sections (the same aluminum in high-end tent poles) and ripstop nylon seat to create a fully functional camp chair at 1 lb 8 oz. It packs to 13x4x4 inches and carries in its own stuff sack. A 265-lb capacity in a pack-able chair was impossible before Helinox.

DAC 7001 Aluminum

7001 alloy aluminum (same as Easton tent poles) provides the strength-to-weight ratio that makes Helinox possible. Standard folding chairs use 6061 alloy or steel — heavier and weaker per diameter. Helinox's pole diameter is 8.5mm — at the minimum for load-bearing, achieving the sub-2-lb weight. The engineering is exceptional.
